On the Role of Perception in Regulating Stride-to-stride Walking Dynamics

چکیده
1. Motivation The Dynamic Walking community has rightly focused on the aspects of gait that can be modeled, predicted, and explained by the mechanics of multibody systems. Sensory feedback is assumed to play a role in walking, but generally via machine-like, relatively low-dimensional feedback control mechanisms in a virtually noise-free system. Human beings, however, are “perception-action” systems that perceive sensory inputs and organize motor responses in a variety of different ways, all while coping with fluctuations that are intrinsic to the decidedly high-dimensional human motor system. This suggests the need for a better understanding of the perceptual context in which locomotion occurs in order to fully understand how humans select and implement different control strategies to regulate walking.

The Effects of Counting the Stride Numbers on the Parkinsonian Gait: Suggesting a Possible Reason for Dual Task Interference
Introduction: Parkinson Disease (PD) is a degenerative and progressive disorder of the central nervous system. It results from degeneration of Substantia Nigra pars compacta (SNc) of the Basal Ganglia (BG). Gait disturbances in PD patients generally get worse over time. The underlying mechanism of gait disturbances in PD has not been elucidated yet. Methods: In this study, we tried to analyze ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Modified Floor Reaction Ankle Foot Orthoses on Walking Abilities in Children with Cerebral Palsy
Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified floor reaction ankle foot orthosis (FRAFO) design on gait performance in children with cerebral palsy. Methods: Eight children with cerebral palsy wore a modified FRAFO bilaterally for six weeks. Motion analysis was used to assess the immediate effectiveness of the orthosis on improving gait and also following si...
متن کاملThe effect of treadmill walking on the stride interval dynamics of children.
Treadmills are commonly implemented in rehabilitation and laboratory settings to facilitate gait analysis and training. However, while this locomotor modality is often used with children, its effect on pediatric stride interval dynamics is unknown. This study investigated the stride interval persistence of 30 asymptomatic children after completion of three to six 10-min walking trials comprised...
متن کاملDynamics of Stride Interval Characteristics during Continuous Stairmill Climbing
It has been shown that statistical persistence in stride intervals characteristics exist during walking, running and cycling and were speed-dependent among healthy young adults. The purpose of this study was to determine if such statistical persistence in stride time interval, stride length and stride speed also exists during self-paced continuous stairmill climbing and if the strength is depen...

Objectives: There exists no study concerning gait pattern while engaging in dual-task activities on different sizes of mobile devices. The present study aimed to compare gait patterns during normal walking, walking with smartphone use, and walking with tablet use. Methods: Seventeen healthy female participants with an age range of 19-24 years (mean±SD age: 20.29±1.61 years, weight: 49.82±4.46...
